Integrated Social Work Program

Deniliquin Campus

TAFE NSW Riverina Institute and Charles Sturt University (CSU) have integrated the Diploma of Community Welfare Work (CHC50702) and the CSU Bachelor of Social Work degree. The program will commence in February each year through the Deniliquin Campus of TAFE NSW Riverina Institute and by distance education through Charles Sturt University. Riverina Institute and Charles Sturt University have combined their respective excellence to offer the four-year Social Work program. There will be face-face delivery in the first two years of the program at Riverina Institute’s Deniliquin Campus. Years 3 and 4 will be exclusively by distance education through Charles Sturt University.

WHAT IS SOCIAL WORK?

Social Work is the profession committed to the pursuit of social justice, to the enhancement of the quality of life, and the development of the full potential of each individual, group and community in society.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Social Workers are employed as caseworkers, group workers, community development workers, researchers, project managers and policy analysis and makers. Social workers practice in a variety of fields, including child protections, disability, connections, health, mental health, government and non-government agencies, defence forces, poverty alleviation, hospitals, aged care facilities, local Government, private practice and many other fields. This four-year professional degree is a gateway to service, variety in practice and national and international opportunities.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM?

  • Students graduate with two nationally recognised qualifications – the Diploma of Community Welfare Work (CHC50702) and the Bachelor of Social Work.

  • You can obtain credit for previous relevant work and study.
  • The Charles Sturt University component of the program is funded under the Commonwealth supported contribution (HECS-HELP) arrangements.
