Situated on the Olympic Highway on the South West Slopes of NSW, Young is considered the “Cherry" Capital of Australia. Young was initially founded as a mining town "Lambing Flat", a town rich in history and character and has built a diversified industry base. Young's region has cherry and stone fruit production, pig, sheep, beef cattle, grain farming, engineering, disability and community services, child centres and health and aged care facilities. Young is centrally located in the "Hilltops" Wine and Food region and the National Cherry Festival runs in early December.

Young Campus is located in Caple Street next to the picturesque Carrington Park. The campus is accommodated in heritage buildings dating back to 1876 where the original Young Gaol was located. The campus has been providing education and training to the Young community and surrounding districts since 1941 and has developed strong links with industry in the area. Present day the campus offers courses ranging from a Statement of Attainment to an Advanced Diploma level in areas of Engineering, Transport, Electrical, Administration and Management, Vocational Access, Community/Disability Services, Child Care and Aged Care; all training supporting local industry.
