General Education

General Education provides courses of study to suit the individual learner. The courses range from literacy and numeracy and basic adult education through to year 10 and year 12 equivalent courses designed to lead to university study. For school leavers and mature age students returning to study, several pathways to employment or further study are offered and there are specialist courses for students from a non-English speaking background, women returning to work and study, Aboriginal students, students with a disability and those who have experienced barriers to education in the past.

The General Education staff are highly trained in a range of teaching methods. In addition, Riverina Institute provides ongoing comprehensive staff development programs to ensure delivery of the best in up-to-date training.

Our students enjoy enhanced career opportunities and smooth pathways to continue study. Most courses include vocational and industry units which can count toward further training programs and provide skills sought after by employers. As well as this focus on professionalism, General Education staff are friendly and approachable. They understand the importance of a supportive learning environment where students of all ages and backgrounds are treated with respect.

General Education can also offer a range of special programs and short courses including Communication, Management Reporting, Conflict Resolution, Mentor Training and Public Speaking.
